The Prevalence of Nutrition Challenges in Schools
The success of action plans in communities requires collaborative support through the
recruitment of relevant stakeholders who would support such plans to guarantee their success
(Ruest, Ashton & Millar, 2017). Nutrition is a significant health challenge across various schools in
the United States. Therefore, the department of health and critical players must collaborate to ensure
the success of action plans.

Summary of Interview
Question 1
This disparity implies the inequality of health and healthcare in different populations.
Interrelated sets of the environmental, health system, individual, societal, and provider factors
contribute to such disparities. Besides, the discrepancies occur across a wide range of dimensions
and are a persistent and longstanding issue in the United States. The Medicaid program under the
department of health aims to reduce the existence of such challenges.
Question 2
As the Kaiser Family Foundation, we believe that children should eat more veggies and
fruits to reduce nutritional challenges. This statement bolsters efforts of America’s Department of
Agriculture to improve nutrition standards for children through the enactment of 2012. As such,
schools across different states in America should serve healthier lunches to students to provide
appropriate nutrients. Nevertheless, the consumption of fruits and vegetables remains a challenge
since a majority of students allegedly dispose of these foods at a high rate (Dong, 2015).
Question 3
This issue is essential since it hinders the overall efforts to improve the quality of health and
care for the entire population of America and leads to unnecessary costs to treat diseases. America’s
population is increasingly becoming diverse, and as such, it is essential to solving all the disparities
in health. Children are the future generation, and as such, their health should be maintained to boost
their lifespan.
Question 4
The Kaiser Family Foundation is committed to supporting more engagement in physical
activity among children. Besides, we encourage more enrolment into the Medicaid program to
ensure a majority of children get covered in the program. This program guarantees routine medical

care for all children, including the assessment of nutritional challenges. Therefore, the Foundation
disseminates information about the essence of healthcare and also offers financial aid where
necessary.
Question 5
We conduct comprehensive research on healthcare and disseminate findings to increase
awareness of diverse healthcare needs. Besides, we address health disparities and encourage the
efficient delivery of healthcare. Moreover, our foundation depends on government publications
under the department of health. This department is our significant partner in the initiative to reduce
nutritional challenges.
Question 6
Our studies discovered that children view more food advertisements than any other item. A
majority of the food adverts promote snacks and candy. By and large, consumption of processed
foods increases the rate of childhood obesity. As the Kaiser Family Foundation, We are committed
to ending obesity, which is a major nutritional challenge for children. Our Foundation encourages
more engagement in physical activities. We partner with various schools and families to accomplish
multiple missions.
Question 7
Affordable Care Act (ACA) significantly reduced the number of uninsured citizens, but
disparities in coverage are still a challenge. There are a significant number of low-income earners
who remain uninsured under the Medicaid program. Therefore, all eligible children should be
enrolled in the program to enjoy its benefits. Nutritional disparity remains an enormous challenge
that has the possibility of getting worse in case of insufficient measures to promote a healthy
lifestyle.
Question 8
THE PREVALENCE OF NUTRITION CHALLENGES IN SCHOOLS
5
The current state of this disparity is wanting since a majority of children fall ill due to low
immunity and poor nutrition habits. Children from low-income families suffer more since their
parents cannot afford to maintain a constant balanced diet due to inadequate finances. Social media
is partly to blame since girls who are conscious about gaining weight eat very little food under the
pretext of trying to slim. Later on, such girls face nutrition-related challenges whenever they fall ill.
As such, more efforts must be made to remedy nutrition challenges.
Question 9
Teamwork is the most significant measure to end health disparities. Citizens, businesses,
profit, and non-profit organizations should support active and healthy living. For instance, we
partner with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Individuals, and the Department of Agriculture
to support the well-being and improvement of the health of students. The 2012’s nutrition values for
schools should be implemented effectively to benefit over 30million children.
Question 10
Yes, As Kaiser Family Foundation, we actively participate in this fight by supporting antihunger measures. We engage in the distribution of healthy foods in society to set an excellent
example of what individuals and families should follow. We also offer financial support to schools
to ensure the purchase of the best meals that foster good health of children.
